by Colleen Williams Digital Marketer

If you are considering buying a dehumidifier, there may be a few questions you may have in your mind. Most people are not well informed about dehumidifiers. They do not know about the different types of humidifiers that exist in the market. Many customers think that all dehumidifiers perform the same functions essentially and judge them on the basis of their aesthetic appeal. Home and industrial dehumidifier manufacturers are frequently asked to differentiate between the types of dehumidifiers and their uses. We have listed below the types of dehumidifiers available in the market and their uses.

Portable Dehumidifier:

A portable dehumidifier is designed for home and office premises. They have the capacity between 10 to 30 litters. They are usually used to reduce the humidity levels in working spaces and to dry laundry at homes. They have an aesthetic look to them which makes homeowners buy them. They can easily be placed in the living room without disturbing the decor. Portable dehumidifiers usually come with control panels that have the provisions to set timers and control the fan speed.

Indoor Pool Dehumidifiers:

Indoor pool dehumidifiers are installed in rooms which have heated pools, indoor spas, and Jacuzzis. They are usually fitted with the walls, ceilings, or the floor. Wall mounted indoor dehumidifiers have a limited capacity. They are only installed in rooms with small pools. Pool dehumidifiers that are mounted on the ceiling have a large capacity and can absorb high amounts of moisture. They are usually installed in rooms with larger pools, hotels, big spas, and indoor pools in resorts.

Industrial Dehumidifiers:

These are heavy-duty dehumidifiers used in industrial operations. They are usually fitted on the walls, floors, or the roof. Some industrial dehumidifiers are portable with wheels attached to them. They have the capacity to absorb moisture between 30 to 1200 litters every day. They are bulky and have a highly resistant body. They are damage proof and possess control panels for essential functions. Industrial humidifiers come with a basic filter and a humidistat. Humidistat is used to present the required humidity level.

Desiccant Type Dehumidifiers:

These are special dehumidifiers which have a rotating desiccant wheel. Humid air of the surrounding is drawn to the wheel with the help of a fan. The wheel absorbs all moisture, and the dry air is released into the surroundings. Hot air is released through the system to keep the wheel dry. These types of dehumidifiers are energy saving and cost effective. They work extremely well in low temperature and moist conditions. Desiccant type of dehumidifiers can effectively keep foul odour from fungus away.

Refrigerant Type Dehumidifiers:

Refrigerant type dehumidifiers are also known as mechanical dehumidifiers. These types of dehumidifiers are used to lower humidity levels with refrigeration cycles. They have an evaporator and a condenser coil. The fan helps attracts humid air to the evaporator. In the evaporator, the humid air is chilled below the dew point and is condensed into water. The water is collected in a tank and eliminated. These dehumidifiers are cheap and are easy to use than all the dehumidifiers listed above.
