Twitter Now Allows You To Sign In Without A Twitter Account

by MarkJ Guillen CEO
Twitter has removed the option of signing in on Periscope with a Twitter account.

Twitter Inc. is doing all it can to compete with Facebook in the market. So far, it is trailing the other social media network giant but in recent times it has become the most used and active social media network. The company has tried it all the way Facebook leads it platform. From introducing videos to advertisements, but still it has not received that spark from the users. However, it launched a live streaming and broadcasting app for its platform to increase engagement between users. And so far, Facebook does not have this option.

Twitter started it all with Vines top keep up with the increasing trend of videos on social media platform. Then it later launched Periscope along with Meerkat allowed on Twitter as well. But Meerkat was later blocked in order to focus on Periscope and make it the next big thing in the market. However, the social media giant makes iOS the only available platform for this live streaming app. Previously, users were required to sign up or sign in with Twitter login credentials to access and broadcast through Periscope. In the latest update of the app, the company has eliminated the need of a Twitter account.

It is believed that Twitter will now allow people to sign in with their phone number hence eliminating the mandatory need of an account to use Periscope. However, the company would suggest users to sign up or sign in through Twitter but offering an option to use the service through phone numbers is a big plus. People who do not want to be on Twitter can still use the live broadcasting app. Furthermore, the new update of the app has brought in many improvements; a user can now easily reply back to others’ comments on live broadcasts, allows users  to change their display pictures, and lets users know when they are blocked by the streamer in the broadcast chat room by changing the app’s interface.

It is still unclear regarding how much Twitter has paid to buy Periscope. The social media network has not yet made it publicized. However, The Verge reports “Twitter bought periscope and niche for more than $86 million.” Analysts believe that this is a bargain buy for the company considering how easily it is getting used to the live broadcasting app as well as giving tough competition to Meerkat, its competitor, in the market.

Twitter app is trying to make the platform and its services as user friendly as it can in order to lure away new users and well as improve user experience for existing users.
