When we think of pineapples, we usually imagine a sweet & sour taste that makes the corners of our mouths itch. We also think of prickly fruits or the fierce pineapple on pizza debate. Whether or not you think pineapple shouldn’t go with pizza, we can say with certainty that pineapple definitely goes with fashion. Pinãtex, a material made from pineapples, has taken the fashion industry by storm ever since its inception in the 1990s. Developed by Dr Carmen Hijosa and presented as part of her PhD graduate exhibition, there are many reasons to grab this leather alternative by the thorns.
