There have been a lot of queries that trekkers ask. One of the most asked questions is in how many days Tulian Lake Trek is finished. Is a day enough or two or 4 days enough for this trek? This confusion about the duration and the itinerary mainly comes from the fact that different companies and blogs have different itineraries and durations for this trek.
At first, one should know that Tulian Lake Trek is around 24km and gains an altitude of around 1600m from the base camp at Pahalgam. Depending upon your fitness level you can keep the duration as per that. Someone who is a pro trekker, or ultra-runner, can finish this trek in a day. For someone who is a moderately fit person, that duration can be of 3 days.
However, to enjoy the feel of trekking and get into the lap of nature, the recommended duration is of 4 days. Accordingly, your campsite and daily duration change. Here is the quick itinerary of this Tulian Lake.
Tulian Lake trek falls in the Pahalgam of district Anantnag between the maximum altitude of this lake is around 3700m. This alpine lie is unique in a way that it resembles that digit 8 and its greenish-blue water is a treat to the trekkers.
Brief Itinerary:
Day 1 – Pahalgam to Baisaran
- Distance: 5 km
- Time taken: 3.5 hours
- Trail Overview: Grasslands, mountain streams.
This is the first day of the trek via the beautiful meadow called Baisaran. The climb starts from Pahalgam. The gradual to steep ascent follows a zigzag course. Today, you will be traversing the beautiful grasslands of Kashmir Valley before you reach Baisaran village ‘Mini Switzerland of India‘.
Day 2 – Baisaran to Tulian Marag
- Distance: 9 km
- Time taken: 7 hours

The 9 km stretch is the beautiful walk of your life. Baisaran is a beautiful, otherworldly meadow that stretches up until the tree line.
Day 3 – Tulian Marag to Tulian Lake and back
- Distance: 10 km
- Time taken: 8 hours
- Trail Overview: Grasslands, mountain streams
This is the toughest day of the trek but equally rewarding as you will be seeing Tulian Lake today. It has an ascend along the banks of the river. The straight 1.5 km stretch will take you to the end of the valley.
Day 4 – Tulian Marag to Baisaran
- Distance: 14 km
- Time taken: 7 hours
- Trail Overview: Grasslands, mountain streams
Today is the last day of the trek and it will be quite easy as it is an all descend day until Pahalgam. However, the descend is long and for someone who struggles to descend, this will be a challenging day.
