Trust, What It Means In Business

Trust, “What It Means In Business”. Interesting statement considering we are talking about lists right? Well make no mistake about it your list is your business! In a previous lesson I made the statement “The whole idea of a list is for you to have the ability to contact a motivated group of people with an offering of a product or service that you can provide to them for a fee! Note the last word “Fee”, as this is all about money!”

Ask yourself this… “Is it all about the money?” or is there something more to it? Business is the ability to make money, right? Or could it be the ability to sell? Perhaps it is deeper than that, perhaps its a matter of building relationships and developing trust… hmmmmm.

If some old fella with worn out shoes, raggedy clothing and a smell that told you of a few weeks gone without a shower walked up to you and offered you his brand new Mercedes, parked across the street, for only $2,000 “cash” but you had to buy it now… what would you say to him?

Now take the same car and the same offer but this time its coming from a long time friend, he just won a Jaguar in a raffle at the local fair and he knows you need a car but only have about $3,000 available to spend, some is going to have to go for gas, plates, ownership and insurance. Would you take him up on the offer?

Why would you accept the offer of 1 person, when you refused the very same offer from some one else? The answer is trust. Trust that is built by having a positive relationship with that person.

When building a list you need to develop relationships with the people on that list. Keep in mind not everyone is interested in or understands that these relationships are what allow you to build trust and thereby your business.

However those relationships that you do build, if good, will develop into trust. Trust in what you say and in what you do so that when you do make an offering to them they will respond favorably to it. In essence trust means the same in business as it does in your personal life.

In the next lesson we will go into how to build that relationship, develop the trust and turn it into a mutually beneficial business.
