Becoming a soccer player is a dream for millions of kids around the world, but only those willing to put in the hard work are truly able to make it a reality. True soccer players are never in it for the money; it’s about being able to play the game they love for a living, every single day. However, soccer is an incredibly competitive sport that demands consistency, sacrifice, and dedication, and the career of Truitt Battin epitomizes all three.

Truitt Battin has been playing soccer since he was six years old, and he always wanted to be a professional soccer player. Like any other professional, to become a good soccer player, it takes more than just feet. You need discipline and work ethics of a machine if you want to make it big. He believed that with hard work, he would achieve his dream someday.

Truitt currently plays Professional soccer in Croatia but has played in Switzerland for FC Sion and in Serbia for Red Star and FK Partizan, where he started his professional soccer career. Michael Calvin, the author of No Hunger in Paradise, says that when it comes to kids making it as professional soccer players, the numbers are “really sobering.” Out of all the boys entering the academy, less than half of a percent are able to make it, he told Business Insider. It is clearly evident that only the best make it to the field, and Truitt was no exception.

Truitt is known for his speed, vision on the field, and being able to cut in and out left and right with the ball and being able to shoot at any time. His relentless training regime allowed him to score goals with both left and right feet and currently prefers to play on the left-wing. Early in his career, Truitt established himself as an attacking threat. He has both feet and speed, with and without the ball, and is known for being a breakthrough player.

But life is not all sunshine and rainbows, is it? There is a point in every athlete’s life where he changes country, clubs, and affiliations. A change like this is never easy for any soccer player, but as the saying goes, “A dream does not become a reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work.” Some of the greats of the game like Sergio Aguero (transferred from Atletico Madrid to Manchester City), Cristiano Ronaldo (transferred from Real Madrid to Juventus), Aubameyang (transferred from Borussia Dortmund to Arsenal), all have struggled in the beginning, but it was their strong mentality that helped them overcome the odds.

Such time also came in the life of Truitt Battin. Playing in Europe is different than in the United States. The style of play in the United States is more about passing and creating chances where every player from defense to attack is involved. While in Europe, it’s the exact opposite, a player can steal the ball and use their skills to create a majestic goal. When Truitt Battin transferred to Europe, he used his God-given speed and vision to attack the opponent's goal and score! In no time, he adapted to the style of play and became a hot commodity in the world of professional soccer.

Truitt Battin has always been the hardest worker on and off the field because he always knew that his hard work would pay off! He trains twice a day even in off seasons, which is hard for any professional soccer player, but that’s what makes him better.

He has been recruited and offered a professional contract to play professional soccer in Europe for Red Star in Belgrade Serbia. At that time, he was 11 years old, which would’ve been the youngest player in history to sign for any club, but FIFA rules made that difficult due to the fact that the rules wouldn’t let a kid move to Europe all by himself. But that didn’t stop him, and he never let anything hold him back. Truitt believes that “When life throws you curveballs, hit them out of the park!”.

In an early stage of his career, he learned that to be the greatest; you need a combination of things such as training nutrition and having a solid mentality. If you have that, you cannot be the best version of yourself and achieve whatever you want.
