Trucker Explains His Side Of Story After Kansas Teen Found Dead In His Truck
by Transportaion Nation Transportation Nation NetworkKansas City, Kansas – The trucker who paid Kansas teen Jasmine Mills to clean his big rig before she went missing last a week has told his side of the story to the police.
As Transportation
Nation Network reported earlier this week, the body of
17-year-old Kansas teen, Jasmine Mills, was located in a tractor-trailer on
Saturday after being reported missing by her mother the day before.
Mills’ the family told police the teen was paid by an acquaintance, who is a trucker, to
clean out his big rig on Thursday.
She
accepted odd jobs frequently while trying to save money, and “she pretty
much looked at him like a dad or grandpa kind of figure,” according to Deanna
Peters, Mills’ mother.
Kansas4KC reported the trucker admitted to police he paid Mills to
clean his semi-truck.
He
asked her to wake him at 4 a.m. Thursday to begin cleaning the truck.
Mills
and her 16-year-old sister awoke him when they arrived to begin the job, and he
went back to sleep, according to the report.
The
trucker, whose identity is still not being disclosed, allegedly told the police
when he awoke, he found Mills dead.
Kansas4KC confirmed the trucker then drove (with Mills’ dead body in
the truck) to Denver to pick up a load.
He
spent the night in Colorado and returned to Kansas City the next day.
When
he returned, a concerned friend of the trucker called police with a tip of
where to find the missing teen.
Mills’ the body was found on Saturday in the truck on the 1100 block of South 12th Street
in the Argentine neighborhood.
A
Different Story
The
truck driver’s story contradicts claims from Mills’ godmother, Kacee
Knedlik.
She
told KCTV in a television interview that the truck driver
called her (Jasmine) to come back after she returned from the job and said she
forgot to take out the trash.
Mills
returned to the truck alone, according to Knedlik.
She
never returned home.
She
was reported missing on Friday.
Initial
reports from KCTV claim the body was found in the semi-trailer, but
a recent report by the local news outlet now state she was found in
the cab of the tractor-trailer.
Transportation
Nation Network viewed the police
report from the incident, but it doesn’t provide much information or clarity
where the body was actually located.
Preliminary
Autopsy Report Reveals No External Injuries
A preliminary autopsy on the teen’s body reveals she didn’t suffer any external
injuries.
Final
results are pending on the official cause of death, but police have not ruled
out the possibility of a drug overdose.
Investigators
are awaiting a toxicology report.
No
criminal charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
