by Anushka Arora Skylark Institute of Travel
Isn’t it often that we hear stories of how air hostess lifestyle is the source of envy for a common man? We have all read how glamorous and high-flying their lives are in the sky. At the same time, we all have taken liberties to think, “Oh, can that actually be true? Well, let us find out.

Rachel, an air hostess and flight steward working with Emirates while sharing her experiences/journey says her profession offers her lot of free time to travel the world on her own too apart from the airline she is working for. When she is busy, she is super busy. But simultaneously, she gets her long breaks too. Sharing her roster for the month of October, she allowed everyone to get a peek into her high-flying life. It looks something like this.

• BEY – Beirut, Lebanon (turnaround)
• MEL – AKL – Melbourne, Australia & Auckland, New Zealand
• JNB – Johannesburg, South Africa
• JED – Jeddah, KSA (turnaround)
• MUC – Munich, Germany
• ACC – ABJ – Accra, Ghana & Abidjan, Ivory Coast

As can be seen, she will start the month off with Beirut. Then she will head off to 6-day Australia and New Zealand multi sector trip. Now that she knows where she is going to be, she has aligned her family and friends to spend quality time with them and explore these countries too. If no friends possible, she says her colleagues are always there for the company. Auckland is one place she has never explored and now wants to explore it fully, which she will be travelling to as part of her roster.

In between her MEL-AKL and JNB, she has a window of 5 days (off), so she plans to fly to Manchester for some fun with her best friend. From there on, she is up for a trip to Jo’burg. She plans to have some delicious steak and great wine!

There is a brief halt in Saudi Arabia where she will be making the most of her time. After that it is Munich for her, where she will be exploring local cuisines and lot of sightseeing. She is very excited to visit local and historical sights. She and her brother have planned a lot of things for their weekend gateway there. Together, they will be ticking off many places off their wish-list.

She says the best has been saved for the last. Why? Because she will be visiting Accra in Africa, which is one of her least-visited continents. She has already shortlisted some new African destinations to visit. Then, she will head off to Abidjan and back, and stop at Ghana. And any guesses about what she is doing presently? Well, enjoying her time off after a 10-day professional tour.
