Travel Spots You Must Visit in New Zealand

by Emma L. Business consultant

New Zealand is one of the most beautiful travel destinations in the world. With immense geographic diversity, it can offer you a wide range of things to do and see. Because of its size and the limited amount of time at your disposal, it can be hard to make a priority list of places you want to visit. And, while the spots you visit will ultimately depend on your personal preferences and interests, there still are some spots in New Zealand that you must visit, and today we are going to take a look at them.

Piha Beach

A scenic black-sand surf beach that has a bit of something for everyone, Piha Beach represents a perfect spot for those seeking adventure. Characteristic for its rugged cliffs and strong currents, it represents one of the most popular surfing spots in New Zealand. However, the water can be very unpredictable and dangerous, so if you don’t have too much experience with surfing, it’s recommended to go out with an instructor. Located a short 45-minute drive from Auckland, it can be easily accessed with a quick car rental in Auckland airport which can allow you to explore the site at your own pace.

Wai-O-Tapu

Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Wonderland is a must-see showcase of spectacular geothermal activity which will leave you breathless. Sculpted by thousands of years of volcanic activity, it has been inspiring awe in people for centuries with its geysers, bubbling mud pools and colourful springs. Attractions such as the Devil’s Bath with its eerie green water and the Lady Knox Geyser spurting water 20 meters into the air for hours are but a few of many that have drawn thousands of people to this remarkable spot. It can be easily accessed through many tour buses regularly departing from the nearby cities of Rotorua and Taupo and Ii really represents a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience something you will always remember.

Milford Sound

Located within the Fiordland National Park, Milford Sound is considered to be one of the most stunning natural attractions in New Zealand. With its magnificent mountain peaks, cascading waterfalls and mysterious ink-dark waters, it’s truly something you have to experience in order to believe it’s real. Going on a boat ride through this mystical land will leave you breathless with thousands of waterfalls all around you, or, if you are looking to be more adventurous and daring, you can even opt to go kayaking and experience this wonderful place from a whole new perspective. Most people choose to visit Milford Sound on a day trip from Queenstown or Te Anau. While there are organized bus tours, it’s highly recommended to pick up a rental car and enjoy the incredible views along the way.

Wellington

While we have mainly been focusing on natural attractions on this list, New Zealand also has to offer some amazing spots that don’t require you to take long drives and tiresome hikes through the wilderness, and one such spot is its capital of Wellington. A small city with a big personality, its stunning architecture, funky side streets, many restaurants and beautiful panoramic views can offer you a more relaxing experience while still allowing you to taste all of the things that make New Zealand what it is.

Queenstown

The final place you must visit in New Zealand definitely has to be Queenstown. Not only is it located conveniently so that you can have easy access to many nearby attractions, including Milford Sound which we mentioned here, but it also has a special charm of its own. The combination of its beautiful blue lake and stunning mountain ranges surrounding it will leave you in complete awe, with added helicopter rides and paragliding trips that will allow you to take all of its beauty in at once. Queenstown is also renowned for offering a variety of extreme sports you can try out, including bungee jumping from jaw-dropping locations, skydiving and many others. Visiting this place will undoubtedly make you fall in love with it and leave you begging to stay for just a few more days.

Conclusion

New Zealand is a truly stunning place and if you have decided to visit it, you can rest assured that you are in for a great time. The spots listed here are only a few from hundreds you can visit, but they are also guaranteed not to leave you with any regrets.
