When selecting an animal to be your companion, there are a few things you may want to consider. While animals can bring a lot of joy to a person’s life, they can also make daily life a hassle if the wrong one is selected. While those with busy schedules who are frequently away may want an adorable puppy, they will either have to make shifts in their lifestyle or their pet choice. Dogs are known as man’s best friend, and as such, they require a lot of attention. A happy dog is one who receives the needed attention. On top of that, many dogs require a significant amount of training time. No one wants a dog that eats all their shoes, bite the neighbour, and urinates on the living room floor. Additionally, bigger dogs need bigger spaces. While a small dog can get away with simply going on walks through the city, a big dog needs room to roam around. Clearly there are several time commitments when choosing a dog, and one must be prepared to make slight alterations to their lifestyle if this is the path they are going to take.  

A slightly less time-consuming pet would be a cat. Many cats are quite anti-social and will be happy to keep to themselves. On top of that, most cats only require basic training to use the litter. Most cats do not require a large yard or any yard at all. While cats do love the outdoors, many are happy to stay safely behind closed doors. However, there are some cats that do require more time and attention. It is also possible that a cat left alone at the house most of the day will not have very high life satisfaction.

If neither a cat nor a dog sound like a viable option, there are plenty of small animals to choose from. Many people find themselves perfectly content with a pet fish or a pet bunny. While neither of these animals is extremely social or loveable, they still provide a person with something to care for. Another bright side to these types of creatures is that they are easily contained and you won’t have to worry about them messing up the house while you are out living your life.
