by Masashi S. JDM Enthusiast

In 2001, Toyota introduced a minivan with an appealing and refreshing look, the Toyota Noah. Its popularity grows in the international market and is known as one of the most famous family cars nowadays. The Toyota Noah has a 7 seat capacity with 2 rear sliding doors, plenty of cargo space, and offers Black, Silver, and Pearl White color. The 1st generation Toyota Noah was released in 2001 - 2007, and in 2007, the 2nd generation Noah R70 was introduced. The 3rd and latest generation, the R80, debuted in 2014.

Interior & Exterior

The Noah is tall and boxy with sharp looks that come with steel rims with alloy rims on the outside while the interior has enough space and comfortability with great features that offer the occupants a safe, convenient, and relaxing drive. The controls in the instrument panel are located within the driver’s reach for easy access without having to look at them. The Toyota Noah can accommodate up to 8 passengers with the first row providing space and good visibility of the road. The seats can be adjusted manually or electrically while the second and third rows have enough space as well as excellent shoulder room. The high-end version offers a more luxurious interior with captain seats on the second row. The cargo space can carry medium-sized luggage with foldable second and third-row seats to create more space though it is a bit small when all the seats are in use.

Motors and Gears

The early years of Noah were equipped with a 2.0L 1AZ-FSE D-4 straight 4 engine attached to a 4-speed automatic transmission for the 2001–2004 model and in 2004 – 2007 the CVT was used. The second generation comes with a 2.0L 3ZR-FE straight 4 or a 2.0L 3ZR-FAE Valvematic straight 4 engine paired with CVT or an automatic gearbox. The third generation is powered by a 1.8L 2ZR-FXE straight 4 engine with a 5JM AC synchronous motor and an e-CVT for a hybrid model or a 2.0L 3ZR-FAE Valvematic straight 4 petrol engine with a CVT-i gearbox. The Noah has an average fuel consumption between 12.6 km/L - 23.8 km/L, while the fuel consumption for hybrid Si trims ranges to 23.8 km/L.
