college friendly apps1.      BrainScape Smart Flashcards

College students can use this app to create their own flashcards to help them memorize important facts, or they can download flashcards from the market. Some of the content from the market can be downloaded for free, however other content comes at a premium. This app is free for iOS users, but there is also an ad free version available for less than three dollars. Flashcards that are available for download cover topics ranging from foreign language mastery to increasing science vocabulary.

 2.      ToDoist

The beauty of this app is its simplicity. It isn't bogged down with all types of bells and whistles. It is simply a to do list app. Students can (of course) create to do lists. They can also track assignments and due dates, set up reminder notices, and set book marks to web content. ToDoist can be used as a stand alone iPhone app, or used in combination with the ToDoist browser plugin to create a richer user experience.

 3.      Xmind

Xmind is a free mind mapping tool for that is available to web users. Mind mapping is a visual, and surprisingly intuitive way to take very basic ideas and build upon them until they become workable concepts. Mind mapping can be used to help the writing process, or to help students develop and improve upon technical ideas or business concepts. The potential is nearly limitless.

 4.      Pocket

It can be extremely difficult to get anything done if you are constantly dealing with incoming content. Think about it. In a single day, you might receive links to videos from friends on social media, an assignment to read an article on the internet, and few more links to content coming from other sources. Obviously you cannot read or view each link when it comes to you, and it is nearly impossible to remember what you need to view later. What pocket does is store and bookmark the content you want to view. Then, when you are ready, you can access it through your device.

 5.      Evernote

Students all over have adopted Evernote as their preferred app for taking notes, collaborating with others on projects, working on personal writing projects, and keeping track of sources. Students who take advantage of all of the functionality offered by the Evernote app, often find that they need no other app when it comes to note taking, education, writing, or productivity.

6.      EasyBib

This app helps students with what is, without a doubt, the most frustrating part of any writing assignment. EasyBib automates the process of tracking sources and writing citations for bibliographies and works cited pages. This app works for online sources, most often by accessing previous citations of a particular source. It also works for offline sources such as books or magazines as long as there is a bar code that can be scanned.

 7.      SnapChat

Who says an app has to be academic in nature to be worthwhile for college students. Students who use snapchat can use the app to maintain connections with family and friends, express themselves, and even follow the snapchat stores of celebrities.
