Image Bringing your pets on vacation adds more fun to the whole trip and lessens the anxiety of not knowing what is happening with your pet in your absence. In order to travel with your pet to another country, you are required to do some homework. This write-up presents top tips to help you make flying with your pet easier.

  • Consulting with a veterinarian

You need to get in touch with your pet’s veterinarian before catching the flight, because all animals traveling by air require a health certificate. Do not leave this until the last day. It is better to make an appointment a couple of days before you fly. You should also consult the veterinarian to get an overview of the pet’s health and know if it is fit to travel by air. Different countries have different veterinary certificates. The forms as well as the veterinary certificates issued by certified veterinarians may differ. Remember that the health certificate is a crucial part of the animal passport.

  • Crating your pet

It is quite natural to feel badly about crating your pet. After all, owners do not want their most adorable family member to be in a cage. But do not project your emotions onto your pet. If trained properly, they do not really mind staying in a crate and even feel safer there at times. You should make sure your pets get enough exercise before going in the crate. Proper exercising will burn off excess energy and your animal will be more inclined to rest. Also, make sure there is nothing in the crate that can harm your pet. Be careful with the leashes and loose collars.

  • Keeping your dog comfortable at the time of travel

It is advisable that you bring your pet’s favorite toy, bone, and personal belongings like blanket, feeder, etc. to make your dog comfortable. Essential oils also do magic to keep your pet (especially cats and dogs) extra calm. Rub a little lavender oil in your palm and give your pet a deep tissue massage near the spine.

  • Taking your pet on an airplane

Dogs, cats, and other exotic animals can travel on planes. But, the first thing you are required to do is check with the airline for their rules and regulations regarding pet travel. Researching the process beforehand is crucial so your pet can stay happy and healthy at the time of traveling. This will ensure that your beloved animal arrives at the scheduled destination securely alongside you. Whenever you are taking dogs to Panama from a foreign country, it is recommended to carry documentation indicating proof of your ownership. There are several other regulations. If you fail to comply with these regulations, your pet will not be allowed to enter or will be kept in quarantine, all at your expense. Plan accordingly, as you may require a little extra time at the airport before you board.

It is suggested to take a recent photo of your pet along with you in case of emergency. This can be used to help identify and find your pet.
