Arabic is the official language of Qatar and is widely spoken throughout the country. In fact, over 98% of Qatari citizens can speak fluent Arabic. Most people learn the language at school, although many adults continue to learn it as well. There are four dialects of Arabic in Qatar; Modern Standard Arabic, Al-Jazira (spoken mainly in Doha), Dialect A (mainly spoken in Al Khor) and Dialect B (mostly spoken in Umm Salal).
2. English
English Language is widely spoken in Qatar and is the primary language taught in schools across the country. Many universities offer courses in English and students have access to free tutoring services in their native language if they need help learning English. However, most workplaces require employees to speak both Arabic and English.
3. French
French is spoken by some expatriates in Qatar, especially those who live in Doha. Almost no locals speak French.
4. Urdu
Urdu is the national language of Pakistan, and it is spoken by around 90 million people. It is closely related to Hindi and Punjabi, two languages are spoken in India. It is not spoken in Qatar.
5. Persian
Persian is the national language of Iran. It belongs to the Indo-European family of languages, which includes Albanian, Armenian, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, Georgian, German, Greek, Hungarian, Irish, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovene, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian and Welsh.
