Women empowerment is the most frequently discussed issue across the world. Every day some renowned international icons raise their voice to support this cause. Despite this, world over women are even now compelled to live a sub-standard life. They are not free to make their choices and so face discrimination starting from their home to office.

Several statistics have highlighted that repeated efforts on several fronts have considerably failed to uplift the overall situation of women and provide them an environment where they can feel truly liberated. To excel, women need a new environment and that is possible when with a new mindset fresh steps are taken.

The situation of women appears quite worse when their freedom, education and other issues are discussed in respect of developing countries. Lack of education and orthodox mindsets have badly crippled the system in these countries. Presently it seems that this fight will continue even in the distant future unless women are truly empowered. And to empower them they don’t need external physical support. They don’t need a group of army to support them and raise their issues. Women world over have proved time and again that with right awareness, proper education and equal opportunities even they can achieve what has been till date confined to men’s pride.

The process of educating women should start from the bottom. If the girls are educated, they will harbor strong personalities and grow into a successful person. Girls don’t need sword to fight for their rights. Provide them just books and pencils and this will turn to be the strongest possible shield for them.

Literacy plays a significant role in bridging the gap between misery and hope. It is not only a bulwark against poverty; it acts as a stepping stone of development. Education complements to investments in roads, dams, clinics and factories. And if this education is targeted towards girls, the impact could be multifold.

Education is the perfect platform to democratize the social fabric. Only by educating girls the cultural and national identity can be promoted. Education is the ultimate vehicle to realize the full potential of human progress and it is only through education that the full potential of girls can be realized.

But despite all these well known facts, girls in India are still missing out on the education they need. To change this situation and to support girls’ education a comprehensive policy needs to be planned and executed. Only then girl child education issue will be fully resolved in India.

It is also imperative that rich and wealthy should sponsor the education of girl child in India. That will help in improving the overall situation. So instead of confining education for girl child in our discussion only, let’s implement it in letter and spirit.
