The treatment, however, needs to be carried out in presence of an expert professional. However, you must make sure that proper care is taken to make the device function properly and lasts longer. The pads of TENS units need to be cleaned and kept dirt to retain the elasticity.

The pads for TENS machine should be cleaned after every use. In fact, prior to the use, the pads need to be checked properly. It must be ensured that the elasticity part is well-maintained. How to make it happen? Well, the pads need to be kept clean from dirt and body oil, hair, and residues. A special cleansing lotion is available for the part. If the pads are in best of shape and cleaned properly, the stickiness will remain there. The pads will get attached to the skin perfectly, thus ensuring best flow of electricity.

There is a special lotion available to clean the TENS machine. However, if you don't find it in your local stores, don't panic. Simply use a light liquid cleanser or mild soap and a sponge to clean the body of the unit. But make sure that the unit is not turned on. For the pads, you simply need to take a clean piece of cloth and clean the surface of the pads. Just use plain, clean water (normal temperature) for the cleansing part. After cleaning the pads, leave it to get dry. By the way, never try to use a dry cloth or any paper substitutes to clean the surface of the pads. It will result in leading more debris in the body of the pads.

This is the most crucial part. Wiping the oil and debris from the pads needs to be done with care. You should not try to be too hard with the approach or things may just get oversaturated. Always opt for a gentle approach. Use a damp cloth and gently wipe over the surface of the pads. Trying your beastly strength on the pads during the cleaning will only result in causing more harm to the surface of the pads. So, be gentle in approach. Once the cleaning part concludes, use a clean toothbrush and brush the area with it softly. This will help in making the pads regain their stickiness. No matter what type of TENS and EMS machine you purchase, without proper care the device will falter big times. You should keep the machine in a clean place. Also, dusting the device every single day is necessary unless you keep it well packed inside the cupboard. Before using the pads, ensure the part of skin where they would be attached, is cleaned properly. Shaving that part of the skin is necessary to gain maximum elasticity and best of attachment of the pads. Clean the areas of the skin with mild cleansing lotion and then wipe it properly with a dry cloth before applying the pads.
