Tips to Style Your Jumpsuit

Jumpsuits have taken the fashion world by a storm ever since their inception, thanks to the striking silhouette they pose. Combining the feminine flair of a gown and the grace and sophistication of two-pieces, the elegance quotient of jumpsuits lands them directly into uber-fashionable terrains. In short, jumpsuits are a style statement, and that makes it not-so-easy to carry unless you have the right hacks up your sleeve. Whether you are an amateur in this territory or a seasoned fashionista, jumpsuits can be a bit tricky to pull off, and even trickier to accessorize. Here are some important tips on how to rock this burning trend like a diva.

1. Choose The Print According To The Occasion
Jumpsuits are something which can be worn to any place, from a casual brunch to a gala evening, but most certainly not the same one. While on a casual day out with friends or shopping with your sister, go for floral prints, Aztec prints, geometric patterns, pastel shades or denim, which are very much in vogue. But for more formal events like parties, functions or even first-time dates, stick with classy monochromes. Blacks and whites never fail; reds, pinks and darker shades of blues go quite well as well.

2. Jazz Up The Waistline
As you know, the jumpsuit is a top-to-toe type of attire which runs all the way to your foot from shoulders. In case you are trying it for the first time, or simply want to break the monotony of the flow, clinch up your waistline with a stylish belt. You can wear it high on your natural waistline, or lower towards the hip depending on the suit and its shape. It adds a lot of spice to the entire look, glamming it up just the right notches. If you are wearing a loose-fit jumpsuit, not using a belt might end up making the look baggy and shapeless.

3. Get The Perfect Hem
The hemline of the jumpsuit is very important. You do not want it to puddle around your toes, and make you trip every time you walk, needing you to pull it up like a skirt. Neither do you want it to sit high up your ankles like Harem pants or Jodhpurs. The perfect hem of the jumpsuit is which sits right on top of your feet, showing the tip of your shoes and no more or less. This provides the perfect amount of flair to the legs but also keeps it comfortable enough for you to move around in it.

4. Pick The Right Pair Of Shoes
Shoes are the most important accessory when it comes to jumpsuits. The long length of the outfit almost always draws eyes down to the legs, and you would want to have the right pair to show-off. Heels are the perfect go-to option with jumpsuits. Pencil heels, stilettos, ankle straps, peep-toes and sleek pumps go really well with the outfit. If you are wearing a cropped jumpsuit, boots with sharper heels will look good too. Lovers of flats do not need to feel disheartened-you can definitely style flat sandals with jumpsuits. But in that case, make sure the hem stops at your ankle and doesn’t swamp around your feet.

5. Layer Up Your Jumpsuit
The thing about jumpsuits is, it is such a bold piece of the outfit in itself that there is little scope left for daring experiments. However, where there is a will, there is an option to add layers. In jumpsuits, you can play around with extra layers just to make it trendier, both over and under. If your jumpsuit is sleeveless or noodle-strapped, wear it with top, crop top or shirt underneath. Try to keep it monochromatic, and in contrast with the palette of the suit itself. But do make sure that the straps of the jumpsuit are going with the top-wear you are going with. For layers over the suit, throwing in a stylish jacket in the mix has never failed to rock. It can be classier and elegant like blazers or boyfriend jackets for a sporty and chic look.

6. Go With The Jumpsuit That Fits Your Frame
Jumpsuits are all about silhouettes. No matter what style you go with, straight legs or flared, free-falling or clenched at the waist, it is very important that it hugs your frame from top to bottom just right. Too tight or too loose tailoring of the jumpsuit will ruin your look, and no accessory can save the day.

7. Embrace Chic Hairstyles And Earrings
Keep the hairstyle simple and chic with a jumpsuit. What’s the point of sporting one if your elaborate hairdo takes all the attention away from it? A simple high ponytail or a good old blow-dry will just be enough, and also save you time. Same goes with the earrings. Go for big hoops, studs or sleek danglers which sit perfectly in balance with your outfit.
