Tips to Stay Fit & Healthy Forever

by Journey To Wellness health and wellness

Exercise is a challenge for many people, as oftentimes, it is all about getting fit. This can be a problem, though, as the beginning of a weight loss or health journey is often difficult and progress can be slow - especially if you’re focusing solely on your results. Over half of adults don’t get the recommended amount of exercise each week, which takes a toll on the body over time.

Do you want to know how to stay fit and continue your health journey forever? Let’s explore tips to keep the momentum alive and reach your fitness goals.

Remember Why

The reason you begin exercising is one of the determining factors in success. If you’re looking for fast results and motivation that lasts for a short while, you may have fallen prey to feeling guilty or shamed by what you’ve seen on social media or in your environment. Look at why you want to exercise and how working out is valuable in your life, as this ‘why’ will be much more motivating.

Start Slow

You hear it everywhere - Rome wasn’t built in a day and you won’t get your dream body in a day, either. It may be an annoying truth, but it’s one you have to accept - progress doesn’t happen as fast as you’d like, so start off slow. Don’t push yourself too hard in the beginning, as you risk the chance of injury and workouts may not be as effective. Take your time and you’ll see the results you want.

Do What You Like

Not very many people will say that they love exercising in general, but many do have a favorite activity or sport that they love to participate in. When you’re on your fitness journey, do things you like and don’t feel as though you have to do routines you hate in order to see results. If you enjoy your workouts you’re much more likely to continue with your exercise regimen, so find what you like and stick to it.

Be Kind

Don’t be too hard on yourself - easier said than done, right? You can be your own worst critic, so remember to be kind to yourself on your journey. It’s okay to have an off day or two, or even an off week, but don’t beat yourself up about it. Fitness isn’t a smooth journey - it’s a bumpy ride, with plenty of stops along the way.

Remember these tips and you’ll keep yourself active for years.
