Tips to Make an Outstanding Brochure

by Vivek Makadiya business development executive

Being living in a generation of modern technology of the internet and social media, still, we've been handed ample amounts of brochures in our life. So whether it's school/college admission, a crockery store, or showcasing a property for sale we've had a fair share of brochures handed to us. Brochures are an influential and powerful tool for bespeaking and educating your potential customers or clients. But, that only makes sense if your brochure is up to the mark that it does all the talking on your behalf and leaves a lasting impression for the other person to get back to you.

An appealing brochure must have an appealing design to it, without an extraordinary design you perhaps won't be able to stand out from your competitors. A great design compels your customer/ audience to read all about everything which you're delivering. A stealing design does get you a deal. But, the first concern is, do you know how to make an outstanding brochure? Here in this article, we'll drive you through some tips to create an extraordinary brochure.

#Tip 1. Know your brand's objective

Before starting with designing the first and foremost question you should ask yourself is Who you are as a brand/organization/company? What is your brand's personality? And later head on to What is the purpose, which will point you in the right direction.

Get as much information about your brand as possible so your objective behind creating a brochure is satisfied and hence you can choose the best design for it. Note that it's a communication design, whatever you put in it becomes direct communication with your audience.

#Tip 2. Know your ideal customer

Not everyone requires to know what you're offering but for you, it is important to know your ideal customer. So that you can serve to your best capabilities. It is also said that different audiences demand different designs, be clear and choose the one that works for you and your target audience.

For example, if you're targeting bikers, then choose a design that has something to do with bikes or motorheads. The more you touch the pinpoints of your target audience on the brochure, the better and more effective it will be. Even after gathering all this information you still do something missing that's holding you from knowing your customer better, use customer testimonials to add better effects. This simple way will map out the best design for you to know what they need and what you're offering.

#Tip 3. Be clear with the content

The brochure is not your brand's LinkedIn profile to give detailed information about your accomplishments. Avoid such kind of information and go straight to the point without talking about your product or service. Providing too much information will eventually confuse your customer and water down the main point of the brochure.

Instead, emphasise on the subject/objective and interest of the reader so that your potential customer knows what you're trying to communicate. Remember, it's a brochure and not a book.

#Tip 4. Easy words for the win

Be conscious while using big words, keep in mind it is easily readable to both, a 7-year-old and a 70-year-old. The more difficult words you use the lesser the standing you'll receive. Remember, you don't have to go the extra mile with fuzzy, fancy words just to impress your audience. In fact, the chances of you trying to connect and communicate the main point will lessen.

For brochures, Simple, layman English language works best.

#Tip 5. Eye Catching Headline

An eye-catching headline for a brochure is everything. While reading the headline of the brochure the reader should instantly get the idea of the leaflet. For example, if it's about the Sales of a property, the headline should convey the real estate description and offers being offered.

One of the most common mistakes a business owner makes concerning brochure headlines is sprinkling them with their company's information. Do not load the basic information as the headline of the brochure. Choose the words wisely if you find yourself incapable or doubtful to write an impressive headline, seek the help of a professional brochure designer, that won't make you look unprofessional.

#Tip 6. Must have a Call to Action

No matter how well in place your brochure is, it must include a call to action. If not it won't serve its purpose. Supposing that your target audience will buy a product or make the deal once they have received the outstanding brochure you've created will only make you fool yourself. Because it doesn't work that way.

Even if your brochure is top-notch, it's still authoritative that you provide the option for your potential customers or readers to correspond or just take the trial of what you're offering. Only if you know the power of a call to action, it can do wonders for your business.

Wrapping up

It's thrilling to see when your extraordinary design comes to life, but the actual reward is when you put them to work and your potential customer or target market knows how to do all the talking on your behalf. Once you're done with the design, read the brochure from cover to cover and only if you're happy and satisfied with the flow and information you are ready for the next step i.e Print.

So, now you can hand them out at business events and trade shows. Which results in making the deals you've been waiting for. This versatile marketing material when done perfectly will leave you proud.
