Since St. Petersburg is the cultural center of Russia, there are some things that you will get to enjoy that you may not be able to experience anywhere else. For example, you could visit the Peter and Paul Fortress on Zayachy Island, the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, Saint Isaac's Cathedral with Monument to Nicholas I, Trinity Cathedral, Bronze Horseman on Senate Square, Palace Square and several other landmarks and features that are a central part of the city.

While planning a trip to Russia, it is also important to consider that St. Petersburg is one of the more expensive cities in the world and you will therefore need to prepare yourself to deal with this. There is no need to worry if you don’t have a huge sum of money to visit Russia, or St. Petersburg to be more specific. What is important is that you carefully plan your budget to the last detail and stick to the budget and you will be quite ok having a fun trip to Russia. Below are some of the other useful considerations that you will have to make as you pack your bags for a trip to St. Petersburg.

Before you leave your country of origin, you will need to first of all get a passport and a visa so that you can ensure that you have the right documentation for your trip. Depending on your country of origin, you may find that can make a Russia visa free travel package. If you find that you need a visa to travel to Russia, then start by making all the necessary arrangements in order to prepare on time. If you need a visa to travel to Russia on an impromptu business trip for example, you need to make the necessary inquiries early enough and make a request for an early issuance of the visa request. As for the passport, you can easily get one from your local government. When carrying your important documents, make sure that you keep the documents safe but accessible so that you can produce them when asked to do so by any authorities (including the Russians).

When you travel to Russia, just like anywhere else, you need to carry the right currency to spend in the country. For example, you may need Roubles, to pay for your accommodation and to buy meals. If you feel that you don’t want to carry cash for the trip, then it may be better for you to carry a credit card which you can use in the country. The city of St. Petersburg has several ATMs all over the city and you can use these machines to withdraw cash in Roubles.

Furthermore, the right clothing is necessary for you to enjoy your trip to St. Petersburg. If you are travelling in the winter, temperatures can drop to as low as -15 degrees centigrade. Additionally, heavy snow can fall during this period in time and you will therefore need to carry warm outdoor clothes.
