There are plenty of reasons why people meditate. Some people say that gives them a more relaxing mind. That's real. Others will tell you it can make the mind really pointed and creative, so you can obtain more things. And a few people say they just love how it feels, when they sit back to meditate.

Meditation is the trained practice of stopping resistant thoughts, or quieting the mind. In the beginning stopping thought may not be easy. This does improve with daily practice.

True meditation finds its place within the Alpha frequency, being a very advanced state. While learning how to meditate, for beginners some may experience difficulty or frustration as it can be difficult to operate in the Alpha. When we are finally able function well in the Alpha state, fluctuation between the Alpha and Theta state is typical, then passing into the Delta. This is the state, or frequency which is normally active during sleep. The ultimate goal is to remain in the Alpha while meditating.

Meditation is not difficult, the problem is people over complicate the practice by thinking, yes, thinking can stop you from achieving an ultra deep meditative state. Meditation is about silencing the mind and with today's modern life it can be hard to let all those thoughts melt off you when trying to meditate but that is your mission.
