eat healthy to stay fit. Walk regularly for at least half an hour as you have
to lots of walking during hajj.
1. Keep documents safe
Always
keep extra copies of your passport and visa and other travel documents packed in
every luggage you keep, as without these, you cannot travel back home. Download
any travel or organizing app and keep scanned copies of your document on your
Smart phone.
2. Do your Research
Ask
authentic scholars so you can and gather as much information as possible on
Hajj and its rituals. Meet the former pilgrims you know in your circle as
everyone has some positive and useful tip to give and you will benefit from it.
From what to pack to what to expect –keep a notebook for all the dos and don’ts
for each day of Hajj.
3. Know your Supplications
Mark
down and try to memorize the essential supplications and rituals so you do not
have to look down while walking and risk falling down.
4. Get Vaccinated
Get
all the required vaccines done before hajj to keep safe from illness and
diseases during hajj.
5. Pack Wisely
Pack
everything which has been asked by your group, but don’t overburden yourself
and try to travel light. Carry a small belt bag for your stay in Mina, Arafat
and Muzdalfa.
6. Keep Smart Gear
Empty Plastic
bottles to fill up with zam zam, lightweight padded prayer mat, umbrella for
shelter, sunglasses, face masks, emulgent tubes or relaxant spray as you have
to walk a lot, first aid medicines, wet wipes, extra batteries and solar
chargers, mini Quran and a small phone with long battery life.
These things
could be easily packed in a small bag pack and would be much needed in Arafat
and Mina.
7. About Dressing
Your ahram
must be made of extremely comfortable fabric that must absorbing and airy. Keep
a spare ihram in your bag as you set off for Mina in case it gets dirty. Your
shoes must be extremely comfortable as they would be your only transportation
in Mina, Arafat and Muzdalefah. The floor of Haram is made of granite, so it
may be hard on sensitive feet. The best thing is wearing padded footwear so
that your feet won’t hurt after few hours.
Women should
wear airy and soft fabric that must be super absorbent. Linen fabric is
recommended by several former women pilgrims due it sweat-absorbing and airy
features. Placing a damp towel under your cap is also recommended for both men
and women. It will keep you fresh and energized under the scorching sun.
8. Expect pushes and jabs
Everyone
on hajj is pushed innumerable times so be prepared for it. Also, there is no
gender specification to pushing, so you can expect a non-mahram to push you
also. Try to stay close to your mahram and hold hands to avoid falling down.
9. Practice Patience
Patience
will be your best friend on Hajj. In fact, hajj is probably all about patience
and being tolerant.
10. Make Prayer List
Hajj
