Do you think that your child has become a couch potato? Sitting before the television sets and munching down unhealthy snacks can wreak havoc on their health. How do you supply a good nutrition to the growing bodies of your finicky children? How would you choose healthy snacks for kids to ensure that a sufficient and constant supply of healthy fats, carbohydrates and proteins reaches them? Here are some great ideas.

Apples and Tuna:

Blend a can full of tuna with 1T of organic mayonnaise. Slice thin rounds of apples and pile tuna on top of them. You can consider cutting down on grains to prevent the intake of empty calories. Avoid using processed foods and use apples instead.

Flavored Porridge:

Depending on the preference of your child, this healthy snack for kids can be prepared either in the form of pudding or can be flavored with salt and spices. To prepare the pudding you just need to cook a bowlful of porridge in water till it softens. Mix water and cook in simmer till the entire mixture becomes uniform. Garnish with almonds, resins and other dry fruits.

To prepare salty porridge, chop carrots, capsicum, beans, tomatoes, etc. cooks them with porridge and add spices to taste.

Smoothies:

Children love blended drinks. Full of concentrated nutrients, these drinks keep your children satiated for a long time. You can consider adding spinach, lettuce, collards, etc. to boost the nutritive value of these smoothies. Add thickening or frozen ingredients to enhance their taste

Always remember that all children eat only what they like and yours is not a special case. So, if you can make healthy snacks interesting for them, they will eat no matter what. You can stop their habit of eating chips by preparing baked sweet potato chips at home. They have a sweet tooth. It does not mean that you should fill their food with a lot of sugar to make them eat. If you do so, you are harming your child. Make use of refined sugar alternatives in their puddings and cakes like honey or agave nectar.

Let them eat pastas, noodles and burgers. But prepare these all at home using whole wheat bread and a lot of green fresh veggies. Instead of giving them cookies or pastries at supper, give them popcorns or popsicles made up of freshly squeezed juices.  All it needs to make healthy snacks for kids is creativity.
