Things To Take Care Of Before An Entrance Exam
Stress level
on an exam day is, no doubt, very high. You have spent days and weeks training
for exams like UGC NET, GATE and IIT-JAM. And all that you have been taught has
to applied here, this day! This can lead to enormous pressure, especially in
students who have dropped a year or two to attend IIT-jam coaching, ICMR
coaching, OCET coaching classes and other similar entrance coaching classes to
achieve a better score in the exams.
But stressing
doesn't help. In fact, it can be a key cause of you scoring less in your exams.
So to help you combat the stress and pass your exam with flying colours, we
walk you through 7 mistakes you shouldn't make before any entrance exam.
1. SLEEP REGULARLY
Never skip
sleep especially when you are just a few weeks away from your final exam day.
Sleeping for at least full 7 hours every night helps you wake up recharged and
fresh and gives your concentration power a boost.
2. DO NOT OVER DO
The rule for
scoring better grades is consistent training. At first you might be full of
excitement to study hard and score high, but as the days pass by you might find
yourself short of both energy and motivation. In this scenario, it is best to
make a consistent study time table. If you can study for only 8 hours a day,
then let it be. Don't overdo. Unnecessary pushing will only lead to
procrastination.
3. TAKE ENOUGH BREAKS
Even if your
career depends on this particular exam, it does not mean that you should stop
enjoying your life and lock yourself in a room surrounded with books. You
should have enough exercises and outdoor activities as a part of your daily
schedule. Don't stuff your time table with studies only.
4. HAVE FUN
Giving up
televisions and play station does not work any wonders on your study routine.
In fact, it is healthy to play some video games and watch a comedy movie when
you feel like you had enough of Physics or Newton's Law of Motion.
5. DO NOT OVER DRINK
COFFEE AND OTHER HEALTH DRINKS
Do not over load yourself with caffeine
or energy drinks during the exam season. Many students do so with an impression
that it'll help boost their performance. However, while appropriate amount of
caffeine might actually make you more alert, crossing the threshold consumption
level can lead to side effects like increased risk of high cholesterol,
acidity, ulcers, and in many cases, increased stress levels.
6. AVOID TENSION AND
ANXIETY
If you are on the right path for the
preparation of your exam, then there is nothing to worry about. So stop
fretting! Else, it will have a negative impact on your preparation which will
surely hinder your performance.
Worry and tension are your worst enemies,
especially during the exam days. Warding them off is the best way to improve
concentration, stay focused and look forward to a better future.
