Here are a few things to check before you finalize the deal with the landlord.

  1. Security

When choosing a property for rent, make sure you don’t overlook a major aspect i.e the security. First and foremost, pick a neighborhood that is secure, secondly, make sure that the locks on the gates, doors, and windows are working properly. Many landowners install security systems in their houses, check different rental houses to see if you can get a house with one under your budget.

  1. Kitchen Cabinets and Drawers

Don’t just check if the cabinets and drawers are attractive enough but open each one of them and see if they are in good condition and have enough space for all your essentials.

  1. Plumbing

Check the faucets and flush the toilets to see if the plumbing is up to date. If the wipes aren’t making any sounds it would be fine. Don’t forget to see if the pipes under the sinks are not leaking and are in good condition.

  1. Natural Light

While you’re inspecting the house or flat for rent, see if it receives enough sunlight during the day and if it is well-lit during the daytime especially in the bedrooms and hallways.

  1. Lights and Fans

Landowners usually leave the lights and fans installed for the tenants, make sure you check and see if they all are working properly if you are paying additional costs for them.

  1. Windows

Inspect the windows and see if all the locks are working fine, it is closing and opening properly and shows no sign of breakage. Windows are a major part of any house and you shouldn’t overlook them.

Improper ventilation can cause many health issues which is why you should not ignore it. A lot of people ignore this part and settle for the visual appeal of the house which could have negative impacts on their health in the long run.
