Exploring India is one great experience and exploring Hyderabad is one important aspect of it. Located at the southern Indian state of Telangana, Hyderabad is the state’s capital. It is a city having rich history and culture. Besides, it is now also competing with Chennai and Bangalore to become the nation’s Information Technology capital. Both Google and Microsoft have their headquarters here, which also reflects the importance of the city. Many travelers usually do not make it past the attractions located in the Old city, however, there are several other attractions in the neighborhood that worth visit.

When it comes to exploring Hyderabad tourism, then there are lots to do. First off, one can start with visiting the different points of interest in the city. The city is divided into two parts: the Old city and New city. The New city is very much modern due to the recent influx of young people from various states of the country. It has taken a turn towards modernity. However, the Old city is still conservative and gives a strong importance to mannerism, traditions, and dressing appropriately. The most significant places that a traveler should visit in Hyderabad include: Charminar, Mecca Masjid, Falaknuma Palace, Chowmahalla Palace, Golconda Fort, Moula Ali Dargah, Purani Haveli, Birla Mandir, B.M. Birla Planetarium and Science & Technological Museum, Kala Bhavan, Nehru Zoological park, Alankrita Art Gallery, Shilparamam, Balaji Temple, Hussain Sagar Lake, and Shamirpet.

Hyderabad is a mix of cultures and the difference in cultures is visible throughout the city. Still, it is one of handful cities in the nation where communal conflict is almost nil. Hyderabad is an ancient city, nearly 400 years old. For the travelers who visit the city for work/business related purpose (which is the increasing case now), it is quite a probability that they miss the opportunity to explore this old city. The city is now one of the most modernized cities in the nation. The city is sprawled by number of shopping malls, entertainment centers, educational hubs, and office buildings with glass facades.

However, things were not the same some decades back. At that time, Hyderabad and Secunderabad were two different cities and were collectively called the “Twin Cities”. Today, the cities have grown so much that they have become one huge metropolis. The city is now known with several titles, namely: City of Nawabs, City of Pearls, the Biryani City, and Cyberbad.

Being a major business, administration, education, art, culture, and tourism centre, the city is well connected to all states in the nation. The nearest airport, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is located 22 km from the city and all major air carriers offer their flights to and from the airport. Besides, there are three major railway stations in the city connected by several Indian Railway trains between stations.

Historically, the city has always been one major seat of power. The emperors and rulers in command of the lands include: Chalukya dynasty, Kakatiya dynasty, Khilji dynasty, Qutb Shahi dynasty, and few other Mughal dynasty. In year 1769 the city became the capital of Nizams, who later signed alliance with the East India Company. It is because of its historical importance the city has been an important centre for history lovers and archeologists. There is so much to explore and learn about the history of the lands, that understanding it has become a major part of Hyderabad tourism.
