“There Was an Animal” Parachute Game for Kids

by APSense News Release Admin

Summer is all about spending as much time as possible outside. With that being said, it can be difficult to continue to come up with games and activities for your kids all summer long.

The best way to do it is to get creative with the supplies you already have to create new games! This is why we love this amazing parachute game for kids, called "There Was an Animal".

Here's What You'll Need

  • 6’ or larger Play Parachute

  • 2+ players

Instructions:

  • Have players stand holding a handle of the parachute, spaced evenly around and all facing the same direction

  • This is a talking (or shouting) game, perfect for the outdoors

  • Have players move in a circle and say all together:

    • “There was an Animal in our town Who went for a WALK one day But they got so hungry And smelled their dinner So they WALKED the other way”

    • For the actions that are said, get the players to perform that action

Variations: There are so many actions you can do: hop, skip, run, jump on the spot, stand still, sit down, walk backwards, hop on one foot, sidestep from side-to-side, walk-in with the parachute, etc. Have fun with it and have the players be as loud or as quiet as you instruct.
