The World’s Most Festive Cities: The Best Places to Spend Christmas
by John W. Digital Marketing ExpertSnowy days and cuddling up
with our loved ones by the fire is fun, but the December period is also a great
time for traveling, as you get to see how the rest of the globe celebrates Christmas.
Truth be told: you haven’t really seen Christmas lights until you witness the
26 million lights all at once in Colombia. Although they are worthy of a visit
at any time of the year, we have compiled a list of the cities we think would
be exceptionally magical during the holiday season. As per the best mom lifestyle
blogs, from
Cape Town to Cologne, German, below are the best places to spend Christmas this
year.
1. Cape Town:
As a professional lifestyle travel blogger, I totally
recommend Cape Town in South Africa. You would not do better than Cape Town, if
you are looking to escape winter this Christmas. This is because in the
Southern Hemisphere, it is summer. Then, you can also visit one (or several) of
the South African city’s holiday markets without the burden of wearing a scarf
or a coat.
2. Paris:
The high spirit of Paris cannot be dampened
at Christmas. The city doesn’t stop shining, from the Christmas market at Les
Halles to the lights along the Champs-Elysees to some of the most decked-out
window displays in the world, lights are everywhere.
To get you in the spirit, you may want to
take in the visual feast that is the ‘Galeries Lafayette Chrsitmas Tree’. For a
nice place to stay, you may want to consider ‘The Peninsula Paris’ with its own
upscale Christmas market and the pure Belle Epoque luxury.
3. Cologne, Germany:
You would not find a better embodiment of old-world
yuletide charm than you would find in Cologne. These Germans take the Christmas
markets very seriously, with over four million visitors counted in the city
each winter. For maximum fun, enjoy the merry sights from the observation deck
of ‘Koln Triangle’, a tower directly opposite the Cathedral on the Rhine.
4. Dublin:
Every lifestyle
food blogger recommends this city for its authentic Irish
pub crawl. If you wouldn’t mind this sea food, then your December flight should
be booked for Dublin, Ireland. You wouldn’t find a better way to warm up on a
cold Christmas night than by joining locals for a few pints and some black
pudding. Plus, there are enough cozy bars in Dublin to last you through the New
Year. Christmas Markets are also a common thing, as well as three lighting
ceremonies and extended store hours.
5. Tokyo:
The winter Illuminations in Tokyo, with
different districts competing with each other to create a stunning display is
one thing you wouldn’t want to miss. Bask in the glory of over 100,000 twinkly
blue and silver lights at Tokyo Midtown and a massive Baccarat crystal
chandelier at Yebisu Garden Place.
