The Wonders of Stem Cell in Treating Chronic Diseases

by Rahul Tyagi Team Leader
With the advent of new technological advancements in the field of medical sciences, it has now become possible to treat various deadly diseases that were once considered to be untreatable and a major threat to life. The reason behind this is that in the recent past medical scientists have come forth with the various wonders of stem cells and doctors from the leading allogeneic transplant hospital in India have also incorporated the use of stem cells in treating various chronic health problems and giving the patients a new chance at life.

Stem cells act as the major building blocks of life and have the extraordinary potential to develop into specialized cell types in the body. The blood from the umbilical cord of the child is taken at the time of the birth. Stem cells are present inside this blood. The obtained stem cells are then stored by freezing them at a very low temperature in a stem cell bank. The leading allogeneic transplant hospital in India provides a facility for stem cell preservation as well and has been successful in treating numerous patients suffering from various chronic diseases.

Hence when a person’s cells get destroyed it is possible to replace them with the stem cells that replicate the functions of the original cells. Stem cells have the ability to multiply and transform into various cell types that are required for the healthy and normal functioning of the body. Stem cells can be broadly classified into 3 main categories, embryonic, adult and induced pluripotent stem cells. Apart from replacing the damaged cells of the body, stem cells are also used to carry out various researches to understand the proper functioning of the human body. Stem cells have proved to be a boon and changed millions of lives by treating problems like Cancer, Diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, injury in the spinal cord, problems of the heart. Stem cells have the potential to treat various blood related diseases including leukemia. The stem cells obtained from Umbilical cord of the babies can be easily stored in stem cell banks and can be used to treat more than 80 deadly diseases. These include malignant as well as non-malignant blood problems, tumors, disorders of the immune system, problems of the metabolic system, neurological problems including traumatic brain injuries.

One of the best things about stem cells is the fact that apart from treating the person to whom they belong, they can also be used to treat their family members who have the same type of tissue.
