Why we use mooring ropes?

·         Mooring tails are special length ropes that provide elasticity in a low stretch mooring or line towing and also provide secure operation.

·         The use of a rope is used for giving low stretch elasticity which is reducing loads of peak and increase the life of service.

·         The small movements of the vessel are absorbed easily by the use of mooring tails.

·         The ideal use of mooring tails is in towing operations, mooring, and STS. It is recommended for the safety of mooring tankers, LPG vessels, and LNG.

·         The mooring ropes are highly recommended in a better surge, shock load absorption properties, and swell. The high flexibility of the material can reduce the stress in the mainline.

Material of rope

Today there are various materials used to make rope such as natural fiber, wire, and synthetic fiber. The most reliable is nylon. It is strong, applying coils without kinking, and staying up well to the stress and weather. The Line is also developed from natural fibers like hemp and cotton, and other synthetic fibers like Kevlar, polypropylene, and dacron.

Polypropylene lines are cheap from the synthetic lines; however, it depreciates immediately from wear and ultraviolet rays. It is not good rope for dock because its hard floor tends to slip and cause cuts if the rope is running free by your hands. It floats; therefore it is better for rescue lines.
