The Use of Google+ and Other Important Tools in Online Reputation Management
by Siddhartha Rahut Guest BloggerHaving your
online reputation managed is no easy task. Once your image or reputation as a
well-known personality in various aspects of life has been tarnished, it may be
difficult for you to overcome it. As you know, various pieces of information
spread into the World Wide Web like wildfire, including negativity regarding
yourself. Once word reaches you that the perception of the people towards you
changed, it feels as if you’ve been given a reality check of some sort. Indeed,
earning negativity on the Internet with regards your reputation or image is one
of the worst things that could happen to you.
Repairing or maintaining your online reputation
with Google+
However, you can
actually repair your reputation by going on a different path. In fact, your
reputation online can be fixed by implementing certain techniques that are not
only effective, but also legitimate and principled. With these strategies,
everything changes incrementally. You’ll see in the long run that once you’ve
typed in your name in Google, you’ll see that everything about you is positive.
One of the tools that you can hold on to achieve that goal is the use of Google+.
This social media site powered by Google makes you create an account of
yourself, in which you’ll give your company or personal sites a +1 vote (much
like the Facebook’s “like” button). It may be heavily-biased, but it would help
improve your search engine’s rankings.
If for example
you are affiliated with a company as a high-ranking official, placing a +1 on
your company’s Google+ account won’t be enough to achieve the best result you
want. You may want others to do the same for you. You can have your colleagues,
as well as your subordinates, family, and friends outside of your company and
other people who are satisfied with your company’s standing to create a Google+
account and add a +1 on the page that you just +1’d. If you have your own
personal website, blog, or other social networking site such as Facebook or
Twitter, it won’t be bad for you place a link (or a +1 button) to your Google+
account.
Other tools that you can take advantage of in
online reputation management
As it is,
Google+ will make sure that your reputation online is very well protected.
However, taking advantage of such tool of reputation
protection over the Internet won’t be enough. In fact, there are
monitoring tools for your social media sites that would be helpful in keeping
track of your progress in terms of the positivity or negativity of your name or
image on the Internet. Certain examples of tools include Sysomos, and Radian6.
