For anyone having a vehicle must have dropped down and see the tyre of his automobile, because that’s where all the difference is made. The black rubber is like the crust of the whole body, it’s where the body rests and it is all dependent how it moves.

What lies inside it is a mystery for most of us, but let’s unleash the same! A tyre has many parts and to start with let’s talk about the outer regions first!

The cover: This called as the tread of the tyre. The tread of the tyre is what comes with the road. Tread varies as per the car and the terrain. The tread of an SUV tire would be different from that of a sedan or even a truck. This also has many areas to look for!

Parts of the tread

Grooves: The grooves are the part of the tread. Grooves provide the stability and grip. Also, the grooves would be better if they are deeper because that enhances the grip.

SIPS: Sip is written in capital, it isn’t an acronym. For the grip to be there sip comes into play. Also, the designing on the grooves are the sips. So for each type of tyre the sip differs depending the type of tyre. For smooth tyres, majorly in car tire, the grip is required more and hence the sip design varies.

Now let’s move on to the interiors of the tyre. For the car tires or the truck tyres interiors remain the same. The difference arises in the level of sips and the tread. Let’s look for what lies inside the black rubber.

The rubber: The rubber is what the tyre or the tread is made of. It provides the base on which everything stands. It is what make the tyre fit into the wheel channel. Initially the rubber had to be heated on fire and then made to fit in wheel, however the process has been simplified now.

Beads: Beads are bands of high tensile-strength steel wire encased in a rubber compound. Bead wire is coated with special alloys. It improves the bonding of the rubber and provide the mechanical strength required to fit the tyre in the wheel. They are inflexible and inelastic.

Belts: These are sheets consisting of a layer of rubber, a layer of closely spaced steel cords, and a second layer of rubber. Belts give the tire strength and dent resistance while allowing it to remain flexible. Usually care tires have 2 or 3 layers of the same.

Apex:  Apex is a triangular extruded profile that mates against the bead. The apex provides a cushion between the rigid bead and the flexible inner liner and body ply assembly.

This what the tire consists of and the edge the different brands have, that is something no one knows! So many things and all we see is the stylish grooves and the black carbon. So next time you purchase one be sure of the material, class and of course the brand.
