Dressing up has now evolved into a relatively complex phenomenon for the Indians. While the traditional attire still commands a lot of admiration and attention, the foreign influence on our mindset gets reflected in our outfits as well.  Western dresses and its popularity is an outcome of this phenomenon.

Interestingly this demand has a substantial share of the non-urban population as well consolidating the fact that the western dresses have gained acceptability irrespective of the urban, rural divide.  The far and wide reach of the Internet has augmented this upward trend even further.  The emergence of several e-commerce players and the subsequent trust garnered huge business volumes for all e-commerce websites alike. 

Big names in the traditional channel of retail have acknowledged this too by coming up with clothing range to fit this trend.  While the traditional Indian clothes still have more command when it comes to occasions like marriages and festivals, a new segment of fusion dresses have also emerged recently.  The blend of Indian and western style makes dresses even more appealing and acceptable aesthetically.  This orientation is here to stay and grow even stronger. The Indians particularly the women now wear such dresses without any inhibitions signaling the changing mindset of the society as a whole.
