The Stunning Trek To Hampta Pass!!

by Giselle Lobo Writer & Blogger

I’ve been trekking for as long as I can remember. But out of all the places that I’ve been to in India, this trek has been my favourite trek for many reasons than one.

So, right after my exams when I was planning for my next trek, I wanted it to be one that I’ve tried before and hence, I decided on the Hampta Pass trek, one of my favourite treks of all time. A month from then I was all set to experience the exuberance of Hampta Pass and Chadratal trek.

The trek begins from Jobra which is at an altitude of 9800 ft. I was so well versed with the Hampta Pass trek route that it felt like coming home. The stunning views, running streams and the serenity of the Hampta Pass trek is something that you can not get enough of. On the first day we camped at Chikha and stayed in tents. I met quite a few trekkers during the trek and we spoke at length about our experience and also our love for this adventure.

It felt good to finally have friends here. The next day of this Hampta Pass trek, we begin from the Jwara trail, reaching an altitude of almost 11,000 ft., that night we camped at Balu ka Gera, which is a gorgeous site for a stay. More than the summit, I’ve enjoyed the trail of this Hampta Pass trek. The day to reach Hampta Pass had arrived. It was a bit tiring and challenging as well but the feeling of accomplishment is worth the challenge. Everything looks magical from here. Every time that I come here, the views and the trails surprise me with their beauty. It seems as if the trails’ beauty keeps enhancing with the passing of years.

The best part of the Hampta Pass trek was yet to come – the Chandratal River. After a 4 hour walk, we finally reached Chatru. My heart had already started to beat fast as we were soon to reach the stunning, gorgeous and magical Chadratal River.

The Hampta Pass and Chandratal trek had practically come to an end and it was time to head back home. The beauty of the Hampta Pass trek route and the views that one can witness is overwhelming.

I was back home, still reminiscing about the trek. I will surely go back next year, for the same trek but before that, it's time to explore some interesting and beautiful trekking spots in India.
