It's a fun and relaxing environment to be in, so you will need to wear something a little more casual and comfortable, even if it is your wedding. Just because you are the bride does not mean you have to walk down the aisle in a bulky wedding dress with a long train. There are some great beach wedding dresses that will make you look gorgeous and appropriate for some fun in the sun.

So what does a traditional wedding dress look like exactly? For the most part, all traditional dresses are long and white or in a shade that is closely related to white such as ecru and eggshell. Beyond that, there are various silhouettes and necklines that will make some dresses look more traditional than others.

Although it was not the original intention, white wedding dresses became the symbol of virginity. Women who wore white on their wedding day were believed to be pure and innocent. This was turned into somewhat of a tradition during more conservative periods in our history. As of now, white is still the color that most brides choose to wear on their wedding day, but the meaning that people held on to in the past is no longer accepted.

All of the well known wedding dress designers have used lace in one way or another. This means that it can still be hip and trendy, depending on how it is used. Obviously when we think of lace wedding dresses, the word vintage comes to mind. You can probably find gorgeous vintage lace dresses at a second hand store. If you don't want a dress that looks dated and you're looking for something a little more current, there are plenty of sleek and sophisticated wedding dresses that have just a touch of lace.

Due to the war, wedding dresses in the 1940's was nothing to write home about. The 1950's gave rise to gowns with long sleeves and high necklines. Then came the 60's, a decade that completely changed the way brides walked down the aisle. Cute above the knee length dresses were all the rage. That's when these dresses became more fun and flirty.

We all have our own unique style that we like to cherish. Especially on the wedding day, one's personal style has a great impact to the look and feel of the entire wedding. Probably the one most important contributing factor to the success of the wedding, is the Bride's lunadress. When the perfect dress has been found, then everything else will follow. When the bride feels elegant and comfortable in her dress, she will outshine any little mishap that might occur during the big day.

One of the reasons for the increased demand for designer wedding dresses is that couples are waiting much longer before they get married. This has allowed women to be substantial better off financially than in previous decades, as many women have had careers before they have decided to marry. Previous generations have relied on the ability of the Bride's Father to pay for much of the wedding, but increasingly the bride and groom are covering the costs from their own recourse.
