The Rose Garden is a new American rock album by John Lars Zwerenz consisting of 18 all new original songs. This album was inspired by The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds LP which was released in 1966 and by The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band LP which was released on June 1, 1967. The sounds of The Rose Garden vary from hard rock to pop to classical to ballads. The Rose Garden took 5 months to record and produce. Recording began on July 6th, 2014 with "The Queen", the opening track on the album. The final track on the album was completed on December 2nd, 2014, "Goodbye, Goodbye".
In recording "The Rose Garden" the production values resulted in a mix between Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound" technique, in doubling identical instruments, and the more modern aspects of mixing and recording isolating all the vocals and instrumentation to produce a clearer sound. In addition, there is considerably less echo on these new tracks than would be found on Spector's works. Creatively, although inspired by Brian Wilson and Lennon and McCartney, the tracks found on "The Rose Garden" are distinctive and are profoundly different melodically and in their arrangements.
All vocals and instrumentation on "The Rose Garden" were performed by John Lars Zwerenz who also mixed and produced this record.
"The Rose Garden" was released worldwide on The Swan Record Label on March 1st of 2015.
