The Right Shirt and Trousers Pairing

by Zobello Clothing Online Men Fashion Store

Colours play a huge role in how we look. Whether it's our skin tone, our hair colour, or simply the colour of our clothes... Just like a hideous hair colour can ruin our whole look, the wrong colour combinations in clothes can make the same thing happen. Very often, a nicely put together attire falls flat because of the wrong colour coordination. To save you from fashion blunders, here's a basic guide to help you coordinate your outfits better.

Contrasts

Many people go wrong here. Achieving the perfect contrast is a very delicate business and must have a balance between light and dark tones. When choosing a lighter shade for your shirt, go for a darker tone for your pants. If wearing a necktie, keep it as close to the colour of your pants as possible.

The two golden rules of contrasts:

Light Shirts (White, Beige, Powder Blue, Light Yellow, Cream, Pinks) – Dark Trousers (Navy, camel, black, grey). Always keep this rule in mind and you will create perfectly contrasted outfits.

Dark Shirts (Maroon, Purple, Dark Blue, Black, Dark Brown, Dark Grey) - Light Pants (Beige, White Cream, Khaki, Light Gray). This rule too will give you great contrast, and make you stand out in a crowd. Try to avoid tonal outfits as much as possible. Grey with grey, white with white, etc. are difficult to pull off and chances of a blunder increase.

Checks and patterns

Checks and patterns can make you look different. Therefore, when choosing checks, pick bigger checks if you are on the leaner side, since they will add mass. The ones on the heavier side must go for stripes and avoid checks, since they tend to make you look bulkier.

There are a few rules regarding men's check shirts online.

Checked shirts go best with plain, solid pants.

Avoid wearing checks with checks as it will result in a cluttered look.

A checked white shirt goes well with a pair of black pants, whereas a darker checked shirt will look good with lighter pants. Men’s long sleeve shirts come in a variety of checks and stripes, so pairing shouldn’t be a problem.

A checked lined shirt also looks great with a solid pant.

When wearing stripes, you can either match the pants to the colour of the stripes or to the background colour. Blue-Beige, Blue-Black, and White-Beige are some of the combinations that are timeless.

When wearing men’s printed shirts, always choose darker tones to appear subtle.

The Right Fabric

Fabrics have a lot to do with colours, because every fabric reproduces colour differently.

While denim shirts for men are the most popular option to go with khakis and chinos, you can also wear check or plain cotton shirts.

Cotton and linen, the summer favourites, come in sober hues. For plain, solid shirts, linen is the best fabric.

Linen chinos and pants go well with checked corduroy shirts, while plain linen shirts are a great match for checked woollen pants.

Men’s shirts online come in a huge variety of checks, prints, and colours, and so do pants. While experimenting is always nice, make sure you know your basics before trying something new.
