Spectators at the 2016 Auto Show in Detroit gathered around the stage as Ford Motor Company opened the backstage doors to roll out the new Ford Fusion models. As Ford’s best selling car looks to get even better, dealers from Utah to the East Coast licked their chops as the unveiling came with a pleasant surprise: the Fusion Sport Model.

The Fusion Gets Sporty

The 2017 Fusion Sport model “pumps out 325 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque put to the ground via all-wheel drive,” according to Autoblog. The vehicle also “runs a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 paired with a specially tuned six-speed automatic transmission.”

The combination of extra horsepower and the all-wheel drive makes the Fusion great for flying through the open roads of the Southwest or swerving through the mountainous areas of Utah. According to Wade Jackson, Fusion marketing manager, "The Fusion nameplate is only 10 years old, but it's done a lot for Ford Motor Company." Ford’s hottest selling car will look to get even hotter as the Fusion is said to have numerous updated safety and technology features.

What’s New?

Rumors coming out of the annual auto show say that the 2017 Ford Fusion will come with an array of new technology that dealers will be able to pitch to consumers. Enhanced park assist with perpendicular park, lane departure warning, pre-collision assist and a driver alert system will all be able to help out, whether on long road trips or just driving around the city. These new features will allow drivers to be safer on the road no matter where they are.

Getting Yours

Dealers in Utah and elsewhere should have the new models available in the summer of 2016. Pricing will start at $22,995 for the S model, $34,350 for the much-anticipated Sport and will extend upwards of $37,495 for the Fusion Platinum Hybrid.
