The U.S. has anxiously been waiting for the official release of the 2016 Ford Focus RS at dealerships from West Valley City, Utah to the East Coast. After the ultra-high performance hatchback was revealed to the world, people couldn’t wait to get behind the wheel. The turbocharged engine, AWD performance vehicle’s release was long anticipated and now it’s here and being offered globally, but rumors are surfacing claiming the Ford Focus RS has already sold out in Australia and won’t be available until mid-2017.

Priced at $50,099 in Australia, the new Ford hatchback has become popular both globally and locally. The Ford Focus RS is said to already have itself a waiting list over there that may extend up to 18 months out, however, Ford is claiming this to be false.

Ford Australia Communications and Public Affairs Director — Wes Sherwood — has assured the public that there are still some vehicles left but he did not specify how many.

Sherwood states, “There are vehicles available, and we’re confident we can help consumers [who want one]. We’re not at Mustang wait list levels yet.”

Sherwood is refereeing back to September of 2015 when Ford announced that Australians who put down a deposit on an order of the new Ford Mustang won’t get their car until the end of 2016. It seems a similar demand for the new Ford Focus is taking place but not as extreme — yet.

As for the eager people in Utah and elsewhere, the anticipated date is almost here. The Ford Focus is expected to arrive at dealerships from Utah to the East Coast sometime this spring of 2016.

The AWD, torque vectoring, hot hatchback vehicle has become a “world car” looking to challenge Honda, Subaru and Volkswagen’s hatchback vehicles. Many would argue that Ford has this one in the bag and from the sound of Australia’s waiting list, they might just be right.

It’s still ambiguous on whether or not there are any more available in Australia, but from the sound of it, consumers will have to wait until next year to get behind the wheel of their own high-performance beauty.

Let’s not forget why there have been such high demands for production. Ford claims that this Focus can accelerate to 62 mph in 4.7 seconds along with having the capability of reaching 165 mph on the track — a selling point in itself.

The Ford Focus RS also features a maximum of 350 pound-feet of torque, 10 percent more engine power than the Mustang, technical upgrades and a larger diameter exhaust system.

Consumers in Utah and around the world couldn’t be more excited to get their hands on the “hottest hatchback” to hit the market in 2016.
