The Guidelines of Parking Your Vehicle Without Getting Fined

There has been a constant rise in the number of fines and penalty on vehicles after the strictly imposed rules by the Motor Vehicles Amendment Act. We have realized that there are ample of people who are breaking the rules consciously or unconsciously, which is a problem. The parking issue is one of the major problems in the city areas. There are more vehicles than available parking space. So some people don’t follow the rules, instead park their vehicles improperly or illegally which leads to traffic. Government has used parking products for the safety of the people. The column protectors have been used in case there is a rash movement or movement done accidently to protect the vehicle from further damage. Car stopper has also been used to separate roads, so that people will get an idea of not letting the vehicle cross the stopper.

In order to understand the parking rules better, let’s look at some of the guidelines as stated in the Motor Vehicles Amendment Act that is to be followed:
  •     You are not allowed to park in such a way that your vehicle obstructs the movement of other vehicles causing inconvenience.
  •     Parking the vehicles according to the signs or markings.
  •     You cannot park your vehicle:

  1. In an area where parking is prohibited or the “No Parking” sign is there.
  2. On the sidewalk or way too far from it.
  3. In front of the gate or on private property with the owner’s permission.
  4. On a high traffic zone or area where there is fast movement of vehicles.
  5. Near any property where there is a sign of “No Parking”.
  6. In a way that your vehicle hides the parking sign.
  7. Near the entrance of schools, institutions or hospitals.
  8. Near any traffic signal.

Parking Fines:

If you park your vehicle in any way as per stated above or in any improper way, you are required to pay fine or penalty to the traffic police. The amount of fines is different from state to state.

In Delhi, no parking fees start from Rs. 500. There is an extra fine if your vehicle is towed ranging from 200 to 2000. In Bangalore, it has been declared fines for no parking offences starting from Rs. 1000. In Mumbai, parking relating penalties starts from 5000-8,300 for two wheelers, Rs. 11000 to 18,000 for medium vehicles and Rs. 10000-15,000 for light weight vehicles. There is an extra payment for not paying on time as well.
