The God of High School: Everything to Know About the Show and the Much-Anticipated Season Finale

by John Martin Engineer

In the world of The God of High School, there was a time when demons, humans, and gods used to live together. The demons always wanted to rule over humans who were much weaker than them. But the gods made sure that this never happened. They gave humans their powers creating a “Borrowed Power” system so that the humans who were the weakest of the three could defend themselves. However, once when demons were defeated, the Gods decided to change the world order. They created three Realms to split up demons, humans, and gods. The humans were still allowed to use Borrowed Powers to defend themselves, although they can’t use it against gods.

The three realms created were categorized into the human realm, the sage realm, and the heavenly realm. As the name suggests, the human realm is for humans and is quite identical to our known world. It is the least powerful of all of the realms. The Sage realm is inhabited by monsters, spirits, and mythical creatures like Phoenixes and Dragons. The inhabitants of the Sage Realm are collectively called demons, and they are more powerful than humans. In the heavenly realm, Gods of different mythologies live alongside each other, and it is the most powerful realm of all.

Mori Jin, the show’s protagonist, is a 17-year-old martial artist who is invited to join a Martial Arts tournament known as “The God of High School.” The contest is organized to find three representatives for the World Tournament. People from all over South Korea are brought together to compete against each other in regional and national levels. The winner of the tournament can get any wish fulfilled by the corporation hosting it.

Mori is interested in the competition as he joins it. He finds different martial artists with a unique technique that tests him as he continues through the tournament. But some of the competitors are not limited to using martial arts as they duplicitously employ “Borrowed Powers” that were granted by supernatural entities to get an advantage over their adversaries. During the early phase of the tournament, he comes across two prodigies who later become his friends. Dawei Han, a Full-Contact Karate expert, and epeeist master Mira Yoo, later teamed together with Mori as the Korean team after the preliminary rounds concluded. After the tournament rounds, the groups came together and made plans for people within the organization. People who are up against them also put their plans in action to achieve what they wanted.

 Episode 12

Sang Mandeok, the Nox member, lets everyone know that the time for purging has finally arrived. He has also managed to summon the god somehow, and he aims to destroy the entirety of the world with his final act. The show gives a flashback of the time when Jaegal was separated from his mother. Some company then recruited Jaegal as he acquired his powers. Then we cut to Ilpyo and Jaegal; Ilpyo is enraged at the events that had happened, so he turns into a monster while Jaegal uses his Borrowed Powers.

Referees, on the other hand, were fighting and crushing monsters on their own. When Jin and the rest came to the scene, they were astonished by what they saw. Ilpyo was beating Jaegal black and blue when, but the borrowed powers of Jaegal ate Ilpyo, he successfully got the key from him. Jaegal was close to acquiring the key, but a monster took it away. It later ended up with Sang from whom Jin acquired it.

 What to expect

America broke the agreements with Korea and shot Nuclear missiles over Seoul. As Ilpyo came to his senses, Mujin teleported her to someplace safe. Jin told everyone the key was with him, but he can’t give it to Jaegal. The god was ready to enter the real world, and all living beings’ souls were teleported elsewhere. It was later revealed the Jaesan had lost his life while protecting Seoul from the Nuclear Attack. Jaegal took the key from Jin when he returned to the world with his gang. He then used the key and transformed into something beyond words could explain.

The 12th episode ended on a cliffhanger, leaving fans unsure of the future events. Hopefully, the 13th episode will come with a lot of answers, and fans can’t be any more excited. You can stream the 13th episode on Crunchyroll to know what happens in the season finale.
