The building was put on sale but it got no buyers. Back in 1906 Antoni Gaudi purchased this residence and resided here with his niece and father. Post his father’s and niece’s demise in 1912, the designer stayed in the residence alone until 1925. Close to 1926 prior to his demise, the artists shifted to Sagrada Família Basilica workshop. Following Gaudi’s will this residence was contributed to Foundation Board of La Sagrada Família that in turn sold it to a Chiappo Arietti couple. In the year 1960 close friends of Gaudi association had initiated a campaign to buy back the house from Chiappo Arietti’s descendants to transform it into a museum. After three years the Gaudi House Museum started formally.
