The Four Luxurious Generations of the Lexus RX

The Lexus RX is a 5-door compact luxury crossover SUV that was first introduced in 1998 up to the present and in 2003, the midsize luxury crossover SUV was released. The RX is available in a front-engine, front-wheel drive, and front-engine, four-wheel-drivetrain and is already in its fourth generation with several modifications in features and style for the improved experience of the driver and passengers.

 

First Generation: XU10

The first generation Toyota Lexus XU10 was initially marketed as the Toyota Harrier from December 1997 until 2003. It comes with two models the RX 300 4AT and RX 300 and is powered by 2L to 3L engines with 240 hp and 220 hp respectively mated to a 4-speed U140E/F automatic transmission. The RX also features driver and front passenger airbags, front triangular quarter windows, mounted side windows, front-mounted side torso airbags, side-impact door beams, daytime running lights, and an anti-lock braking system along with a DVD-based navigation system and DVD voice navigation. 

Second Generation: XU30

The second-generation RX XU30 was produced from February 2003 to December 2008 with gasoline and hybrid options: RX 300, RX 330, RX 350, RX 400h CVT, and RX 400h CVT AWD powered by 2.4L, 3.0L, and 3.5L engines with 204 hp to 210 hp paired to a 5-speed automatic transmission. New standard features include Golden Bird’s Eye Maple or Walnut wood trim, new LED taillamps, dual climate zone climate control, a power tilt/telescopic steering column, an optional 11-speaker Mark Levinson Premium Sound System, a DVD-based navigation system, rear-seat DVD player, panoramic three-panel moonroof along with a total of eight airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, and tire-pressure monitoring system. Also features an optional radar-assisted Pre-Collision System, chrome door handle, a revised grille, and seven-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels. 

Third Generation: AL10

The third-generation RX AL10 was launched in 2008 with model options like the RX 270, RX 350 AWD, RX 350 FWD, RX 450h AWD, and RX 450h FWD. The RX comes with a 2.7L and 3.5L I4 or V6 gasoline and hybrid engine producing 199 hp to 299 hp with a 6-speed automatic, 8-speed automatic (F Sport), or CVT. The third generation comes fitted with SmartAccess, keyless entry, Bluetooth, power 10-way driver and passenger seats, a voice recognition system, sliding/reclining rear seats, and a power rear hatch. Safety features include active headrests, twin-chamber front passenger airbags, Hill Assist Control, an optional Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management system. 

Fourth Generation: AL20

The current generation RX AL20 was released in 2015 with RX 200t, RX 350, and RX 450h. The RX 200t/300 is equipped with a 2.0L I4 turbocharged gasoline engine, the RX 350 with a 3.5 L V6 gasoline engine, and the RX 450h with 3.5 L V6 hybrid gasoline producing a 238 hp to 313 hp mated to a 6-speed/8-speed automatic or eCVT transmission. The RX AL20 comes with ventilated leather seats, 12.3-Inch Multimedia Display, a 3-D Navigation system, Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound Audio System, 40/20/40 split rear heated, and Heads-Up Display.
