The Distorted Face of Health Supplements

Whenever I come across anything related to health, it makes me claw back to my childhood, where my mother would forcibly spoon feed me, what she would call, healthy food. And she would stand on my head until she made sure that I had the contents in the bowl chewed and swallowed. Not letting me leave for school every morning until I finished the glass of milk was yet another example. Honestly, I have hated the taste of milk. Those, as I remember, were definitely not the prettiest of days of my life.
But now, as I look back, with a partially bulging tummy and the lowest possible vulnerability towards tiredness (which only makes me fear what my physical state would be when I turn 60), I feel maybe my mother was right. What I remember being as a tough way to have me eating ‘healthy’ food, was, actually, an easier way. If I compare the line of health supplements and multivitamins that clog all chemists’ shelves, it makes me wonder why we have act so rebellious in our childhood when it comes to food.
Parents have always made their younger generation feel ‘fearful’ towards health supplements. Of course, the meals should never be substituted, but we, since our childhood, have always been kept away from food supplements. Once again, I do not mean that one should survive only on supplementary foods, but with the growing taxing times that demand a lot from even school going children, they do the needful.
However, I do not agree that with the notion that natural health supplements be degenerated as ‘plastered’ or ‘fabricated’ food products. The natural side of these supplements is clearly ripped off when a child is brought up learning that it is all ‘artificial.’ I do believe that these additional nutrient providers, in small tokens, can indeed be fruitful. The health sector is booming with newer, and effective, tools to combat health related issues – naturally.
