by Tint Fx Home, Glasses, Window, Tinting

Everyone seems to love sunny days. In the middle of winter, after a long spell of grey and rainy days, those times when the sun comes out are a welcome sight. Sunshine elevates our mood and spirit, and simply gives us a good feeling about life. And, as summer time approaches and the days get longer, we know we have more time to enjoy our moments in the sun.

There are distinct disadvantages to living in direct sunlight, though. That's why it's important to take care to keep time in the sun in balance, and preserve your health and your money along the way.

Premature Aging of Your Skin

If you are constantly exposed to direct sunlight, it's likely that you'll face problems with your skin. Getting repeated sunburns from too much intense exposure is a major health risk. Over time, you can also being to see the effects of too much sunlight reflected in the aging of your skin.

Direct sunlight can cause your skin to dry out and begin to have a leathery feel and dull look. If you want to avoid these issues, along with increased wrinkles and sagging skin, you can install window film to help keep the damaging UV rays from coming in.

Potential Eye Problems

It's also possible to develop eye problems and related health issues when you are exposed to too much direct sunlight. The ultraviolet light can actually burn your eyes over time and harm your vision. You may develop photokeratitis, which causes swelling in the cornea and potential sensitivity to light. Pinguecula is also possible, and is evidenced by a yellow or white bump that appears on the conjunctiva.

Of greater long-term concern is how overexposure to UV light can trigger cataracts. In order to avoid these health issues, consider using window film to protect your eyes and the interior of your home.

High Monthly Energy Bills

Sunlight can really brighten up the interior of a home, but when your house is constantly filled with direct sunlight it can also send your utility bills soaring. Direct sunlight during the peak of summer can sometimes even make parts of a home too hot for comfort. By adding tinting to your windows, you can cut down the heat inside and reduce your use of costly air conditioning.

In addition to helping with energy costs in the summer, the right film on your windows can also keep your home warmer during the cold months of winter. The film serves to keep heat from your furnace inside, which in turn helps control your utility bills.
