With climate change ramping up and new temperature records being set regularly, the environment has become a concern for all of us. The changes to our climate patterns are easily seen across the globe. Once in 500-year extreme weather events seem to happen all too frequently, becoming the unfortunate norm instead of the every now and again exception. We are beset by floods, wind events, wildfires and torrential storms that wreak havoc with our way of life and our safety.

It’s clear and apparent that it’s not sufficient to continue with a business as usual approach. All of these changes, and rising consumer awareness, have contributed toward a heightened sense of awareness and concern about the environment. As part of that, we have seen a move toward sustainability. It’s no longer possible to simply burn through energy and resources, as it only drives climate change to move at an even more rapid pace. Sustainability of our buildings and of all the products we buy is one of our top concerns.

Window Film Helps Improve Building Sustainability

One of the ways we can help curtail energy use and help the environment is through the installation of solar window tinting. As climate change pushes summer temperatures ever higher, it’s also caused a rise in interior heat within buildings.

Window film can dramatically reduce the temperatures inside of a home or commercial building. When the heat is reduced, we don’t have to run the air con as long or as often, and as a result our overall energy consumption and demand is reduced. This helps alter the cycle of global warming.

What Can These Window Films Do?

When you install solar window tinting, it can dramatically reduce interior temperatures by cutting between 5 and 95 per cent of infrared and visible light. Overall, it can reduce solar energy by up to 82 per cent.

With this reduction in interior heat, you can expect to greatly reduce your energy use and save up to 30 per cent on your monthly utility bills.

Long Term Impacts of Solar Window Film

We are currently in a dangerous cycle of climate change and increased energy use. As temperatures continue to rise globally, worldwide demand for energy for cooling continues to rise in a corresponding way.

By installing these window films, the cycle can be re-written. The film reduces temperatures and the need for increased cooling. Over the long term, this can result in a substantial decrease in energy use. The less energy we use, the greater the reduction in greenhouse gases and future temperature rise.
