The Difference between Local and Global SEO

Search Engine Optimization is done with the mindset of making a website more popular to its visitors; and generate some ad revenue in many cases. However, the task is usually done by digital marketing agencies if not by the respective owners of the website themselves. Depending on the focus, SEO is figuratively used on the contents. If global reach is more important, then SEO would result in emphasizing on visitor from across the world regardless of visitors intention, age, race etc. Local SEO optimization focuses more on reaching the visitors from a specific area or region. This is what local and global SEO basically is about, yet there are lot more explanations to it.

 

The definitions

Both types are SEO, but there are subtle difference in their implementation type.

 

  • ·   Global SEO: When global SEO strategies are implemented on a website, the focus remains on attracting visitors from all across the world. That’s how the keywords are managed and backlinks for lead generation. Global SEO on a website ensures that this website is going to have more visibility when a search on relevant keywords is conducted, the physical aspects of this website like where the company is located and business hours etc. are out of equation.


  • · Local SEO: Done with the mindset of getting customers showing up in the front doors of an actual business. Local SEO is specifically done to let people know about the online presence of a company or service, rather than being very active on virtual existence. Visitors residing around the business location are targeted for local SEO optimization.

 

The effort required for both these types are different in so many aspects.

 

Difference in Implementation

Technically, similar steps are done in both local and global SEO approaches. Meta text, keywords, backlinks and stuff – there’s not much difference, but choosing these aspects is where the difference lies.

 

Global SEO implementation focuses on the website more than the actual business presence if any. Keywords are sorted out on a more precise manner, so that the search engine spiders don’t miss any when a relevant search is deployed. Not just these, but there are many enhancements to be done at the website level such as updating popular online business directories with the business data, posting the exact locations on online maps and even enhancing the presence on social networks as well. All these so that the global outreach of a website is more straightforward to the visitors end – local visibility doesn’t get affected at all.

 

On the other hand, with established local businesses local SEO implementation strategies can help even more for online advertisement. Even for online businesses that operate on a specific area local SEO approach can help as well. Businesses without a local SEO implemented website are truly missing out large amount of sales since potential customers don’t get to know about the market existence of this company while the competitors might have deployed such online existence already. Local SEO is a much cheaper way of advertising the right way – it only requires to be done.
