Double J catheter is also called pigtail catheter due to it’s two pigtail like rolling up ends. It’s support and drainage function, it helps get rid of the obstruction caused by ureter inflammation and edema, while prevents wound leakage of urine and ureter-stenosis. The collecting system is not connected to outside, and it can avoid hemorrhage and infection after nephrotomy surgery. There is no external drainage catheter, so patient will not feel uncomfortable and can get out off bed earlier which is good for postoperative recover.Generally, a certain period after the surgery, the J catheter should be removed out under cystoscope in the hospital where the previous surgery was done.
