The Culture Of Philanthropy And Employee Giving Program

by Boult Rayn Marketing Analyst

For an organization to conduct effective collection of funds, it must first lay the foundation for a culture of philanthropy and engagement internally. We must first ask what motivates donors to make donations. This is not because your organization is an exceptional organization; it is they who are exceptional.

People make donations for the following reasons:

They want to give back to their community.

They have special interests.

They have priorities that take them to heart.

They beliefs farms.

They lived certain experiences and keep memories.

They cherish certain values.

Donors give Dollars For Doers because they want to make a difference; they give from the heart. And you can help them feel they make a difference. More employee feels they have an important role in your organization, the more your relationship will bloom. If you and other members of the organization and frequently communicate in different ways with your donor, it will feel that he is important.

And what motivates Employee to continue to next? Because

They feel appreciated and valued.

They know what their donation was used.

They know your mission and that it is close to their heart.

In addition to being donors, they have a relationship with the organization.

They feel they make a difference.

A culture of philanthropy and employee giving, it looks like what exactly?

This is to ask your employees for help and advice, invite them to participate in events, to visit you and introduce you to their friends, and ask them how they would like you to communicate with them.

This is when everyone in the organization - staff, board of directors, volunteers - recognize the importance of employee giving program and include themselves act as mobilizers.

This is when the staff development office and leaders help donors to build relationships with people in the organization.

When staff and volunteers act as ambassadors dynamic organization.

When your organization is happy to answer questions and show a desire to learn.

When the budget for development is seen as an investment, not an expense.

What roles do the members of the board?

They make their first donation.

They know why they decided to get involved and are able to talk.

They make calls and send written thank you notes.

They invite people to participate in events, shows, and launches.

They act as ambassadors.

They participate in open days and talk about the organization to others.

They ask for donations (where appropriate).

They identify potential donors.

They serve as a link between people.

They build relationships.

What roles do staff?

They collect evidence and speak with other staff, volunteers, members of the Board and donors.

They find ways to show donors that their gifts can accomplish through visits, notes, videos and chronic.

They are nice and friendly to donors.

They thank donors.

They review communications products and website and ensure that the focus is on donors.

In a culture of philanthropy and mobilization, donor attempting loyalty by seeking their continued participation, fetching a monthly contribution and, sometimes, asking them to include the organization in their will. The emphasis is not put on the money; rather we seek to ensure to be the change desired by the donor.

Seek Employees or Volunteers For Fundraising

Employees or Volunteers can help you build relationships. The members of the board must know that they play a role as ambassadors; they identify new donors, build relationships and have a relationship with them over time.

Some members of the board feel comfortable asking for donations, but not all. However, all members must make their first donation and pledge to take part in advocacy with donors, including:

Act as an ambassador engaged in their community;

Make calls and send written notes to thank the donors;

Take part in organizing fundraisers and invite others to participate;

Organize events at home;

Participate in donor recognition events and interact with them;

Identify potential donors and sponsors;

Take part in the activities of the fundraising and event planning committee.

Why not invite volunteers with specific expertise to take part in activities of the marketing committees and fundraising? You can also invite volunteers to participate in activities of the Campaign Cabinet or committee concerned with a target group.

Other volunteers could take care of the organization of events and administrative tasks. Make sure to define the tasks and roles and consider the time and effort that volunteers are willing to spend.
