iPhones usually don't come cheap, despite how popular they are. It only makes sense for you to get insurance for the item, but what kind of insurance you should purchase depends entirely upon your lifestyle. For someone who depends upon their phone for travel and business needs, the value of the phone is simply more than it is for a person who uses it casually to make calls or send messages. Remember that whenever you take out a cell phone insurance policy, there are services that set the basic value of the item insured and needs for coverage that go well beyond a manufacturer's warranty. Placing a value on your cell phone isn't as difficult as you may think.

What Would a Lost Phone Cost You
Try to not only consider the cost of the phone when you are calculating how much the phone is worth to you. Certainly, when you are getting iPhone insurance, the value of the phone is important. But are there important dates in your phone? How about business contacts and applications? Photographs, notes and personal information are also of value. Make sure to include that into your final replacement price of your phone. You will also want to think about if this will cost you in work time or hours.

Cost to Value of Insurance
Insurance can cost a fair amount of money depending on how much you want to insure an item for, your credit and your income level. You can typically get cell phone insurance for a decent price with your cell phone carrier, but there are times where that can cost you more than $40 a month. iPhone insurance isn't always that expensive, but it can be. If you're the sort of person who is barely able to stretch paychecks month-to-month, the cost to value of the insurance may not be worth it. If the phone itself or content saved is not worth a high dollar to insure for you, it may be one option to pass up.

Keep in mind that there are third party companies that will repair your phone cheaply. If you're not someone who regularly breaks your phone, a third party shop will be less expensive for iPhone insurance and can be very useful when your phone is out of warranty. These sites sometimes offer warranties on their own repairs for free or a minimal cost.
